Rihoy learns fate: It’s 9 weeks

Friday 3rd September 2010, 2:30PM BST.

Dave RihoyGUERNSEY’S 18-strong squad for the Uefa Regions Cup has been finalised early due to confirmation of the loss of star forward Dave Rihoy.

Tony Vance, the island coach, yesterday confirmed that the Belgrave player would be out for probably nine weeks with a knee injury he picked up in last Saturday’s Jeremie Cup clash against Saints.

Darren Martin, the North defender, had previously withdrawn from the provisional 20-man squad, so Rihoy’s loss has made Vance’s final squad selection a formality.

‘We don’t know the official diagnosis on Dave quite yet, because he will have to see a knee specialist, but our physio, Dan Guillemette, has had a look at it and feels that he will probably be out for nine weeks,’ said Vance.

‘That is a rough estimate, though.’
