Double rape suspect is held for four weeks

LOCAL man Filipe Nelson Burton was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, charged with two counts of rape and one of attempted rape.
Advocate Paul Lockwood, representing the 18-year-old, of Kimberley House, Route Militaire, Vale, made no application for bail. The case was adjourned until 1 October.
Mr Burton is accused of committing rape on 17 July at Forest Lane, St Peter Port, and on 28 August, also at Forest Lane.
He is further alleged to have attempted rape on 31 July at Amherst Road.
