A DRAMATIC late collapse saw Guernsey surrender the softball  ‘Muratti’ trophy that they won so convincingly 12 months ago.

Leading 8-1 with only three innings remaining at Les Quennevais, the Greens looked set to continue their recent dominance over Jersey, until the wheels fell off alarmingly.

A mixture of poor hitting and good Jersey fielding meant ‘a game of two halves’ would be the most appropriate way to describe the turnaround.

Guernsey added only one more run to the total – in the final innings – while Jersey saw nine people cross home plate to secure a famous 10-9 victory.
