Bogdan’s back on board with his shipmates

A POLISH seaman who lost part of one of his big toes when the wheel of a 20-ton hatch cover ran over it is recovering well.
A slip on the deck of the Huelin Dispatch led to Bogdan Zuchniewicz losing part of his big toe. But he was grateful to the emergency services and to staff at the PEH, where he was made to feel at home. (Picture by Aimee Le Cocq, 1023598)
Crew member Bogdan Zuchniewicz, 55, was working on board the Huelin Dispatch when the accident happened on Monday.
Huelin-Renouf director Steve Champion-Smith said that Mr Zuchniewicz had slipped in the wet and his foot landed underneath the wheels that open the main hatch.
He is now back on board.
‘Bogdan was understandably keen to rejoin the ship and be among friends and the comfort of his own bunk,’ he said.

Really can he start work right away…… this seafarer should be sent home not back to his bunk, what happens if there is a emergency at sea will this seafarer be left behind because he can not move quick enough?
Thank God for Unions so I do not get treated in this way…..
