Temps in hard hats

THE temping concept that works so well in the finance sector has been brought to the island’s construction industry by a new local firm.

Labour Force Guernsey, which was set up by Ross Le Brun and Brad Dray at the start of August, has established a database of around 40 labourers and tradesmen who are available to work on temporary contracts for local businesses.

Mr Le Brun said the pool of labour available was consistently being added to and the initiative was working well so far.

‘It allows firms that might not have enough work on a long-term basis to employ another full-time member of staff to take someone on for a shorter period of time, such as a couple of weeks or a couple of months.
