IT MAY have been raining but the Lions Club’s Motor Fair still raised plenty of cash for charity.

Communications officer Paul Allaway said the event had not been as busy as they had hoped, but he estimated that it had raised between £5,000 and £6,000.

That came from pitch fees paid by exhibitors and advertising in the programme.

Speaking at lunchtime on Saturday, he said the show had been wet to start with, but he hoped more people would arrive with the events taking place in the afternoon.
