THE PROMS on the Pier could be broadcast on the BBC next year.

Organiser Alex Bridle said they were looking into how they could affiliate the event with the national celebration of the Last Night of the Proms.

Events in London’s Hyde Park and Hillsborough Castle, County Down, were among those broadcast during the coverage from the Royal Albert Hall.

‘There are events around the UK,’ said Mrs Bridle.

‘We would love to be accredited. We need to find out who to go to and then we will go from there.’

I sincerely hope ‘Proms on The Pier’ is broadcast on the BBC next year. Here in Victoria, on Vancouver island, British Columbia, Canada we watched the British Proms as it happened from The Royal Albert Hall in London via live satellite feed at Cinemax, one of our movie theatres that has been doing this for the past three years.

And what a brilliant show it was. Our theatre was packed, mostly with expat Brits and likely a few other Channel Islanders now living here such as ouourselves. Indeed, It was fantastic to have have been able to be part of a global audience that sang to every Proms song and who stood to a man ( and woman) in silence for the British National Anthem with not a dry eye in the theatre. If only they had played Sarni Cherie!!
Had they done so I believe I would have collapsed in sheer ecstacy!!

Again, a big yes to having Proms on The Pier fed to the UK which may then lead to having Guernseys Proms on The Pier fed to us here on Vancouver island.
