‘All customers to benefit’ as Post’s packets monopoly goes

POSTAL customers will be able to benefit from competition in the packet mail market from today as Guernsey Post’s monopoly is officially reduced.

The operator and consumer watchdog, the Office of Utility Regulation, came to an agreement in principle last month on changes to the postal market.

This followed more than a year of fighting over the regulator’s decision to allow more competition.

Guernsey Post had spent about £1m. on a legal challenge before the bodies eventually agreed a compromise that would see packet mail opened up to full competition, with the company retaining a monopoly on all other types of mail costing up to £1.35 to post.

I`ll still use Guernsey Post for all my mail needs, even if it costs more. Support their full range of services.

competition just means you will pay more for less, doesn’t any one remember the mess that Thatcher got you into and the flow on from “greed is good” that is now the global melt down because of deregulation in the finance industry..
You the tax payer will always pay……

Great, they have opened it up to competition but you make no mention of who the other firms might be or when they will be introducing their own service.

So for now I guess we will continue to use Guernsey Post.

All we have to wait for now is the list of redundancies

    Quite,

And you can bet it will be redundancies for average joe, meanwhile the chronically overpaid, overstaffed and underskilled directors and senior managers will no doubt go untouched.

After all, their “expertise” will be needed as they venture forward into Guernsey Posts next diversification as a Pharmaceutical Manufactuer, after all, theres money in that surely??!?!?!?
