Rihoy injury worse: he’s out for season

Friday 17th September 2010, 2:29PM BST.

Dave RihoyDAVE RIHOY looks certain to miss the rest of the season after finding out his knee ligament damage is more serious than first feared.

The Bels and island star (pictured right) is set to have a scan on the injury within the next fortnight or so, but a new diagnosis suggests he has snapped his cruciate ligament, rather than his medial as originally thought.

If confirmed by the scan, which cannot take place until the swelling goes down, it would mean at least an estimated minimum six-month lay off for Rihoy, who is now a major doubt for next summer’s Island Games on the Isle of Wight.

It also means he will not get the chance to pull on an England shirt in a representative game, with any potential future group stages that Tony Vance’s side progress through in the Uefa Regions Cup still within that lay-off period.
