Herm sign up for the cup and join GFA fold

Sion JonesNOT long ago they were ‘just a group of guys having a kickaround in a field’.

Now all of a sudden Herm find themselves preparing for their first Clydesdale Guernsey FA Cup experience.

It was in July that the idea of a team sprang up and after plenty of hard work and some help from the GFA, Herm officially became an affiliated team last month.  They play their first ever match tomorrow at Victoria Avenue, a friendly against a Bels XI, and hope to cause a bit of a stir.

Centre-back Sion Jones (pictured) , who also played a big role in setting up the club, explained why the idea came about.

‘We just wanted to bring more of a sense of community to Herm and bring people together through football,’ he said.
