Sarnians plan to go ahead in Delhi

GUERNSEY are still intending to travel to the Commonwealth Games, despite reports that Jersey could withdraw amid the hygiene scandal that is engulfing the event.
Yesterday morning, England and Scotland officials raised concerns that the living accommodation was either unfinished or not clean, with the president of the Commonwealth Games Federation condemning the standards.
Following that news, Jersey have confirmed they intend to make a decision by the end of today on whether to send their athletes or to withdraw.
The issue centres around 18 of the 34 residential towers at the village being unfinished, only 11 days before the Games are due to begin, but the chairman of Guernsey’s Commonwealth Games Association, Peter Sirett (pictured), says there will not be a problem.
