Island stars back ‘GPL’

Jeremy FrithTHE new GPL T20 concept has been met with approval by two of Guernsey’s most influential players.

Jeremy Frith (pictured) , GCB high performance coach and one of the island’s leading players, and Guernsey captain Stuart Le Prevost both threw their support behind the new initiative, which will see four franchised teams bidding for 44 selected local players, as well as each team having an ‘overseas’ player-coach.

Both players see it as a good way of increasing competition and raising the standard ahead of Guernsey’s involvement in next summer’s European regional T20 Tournament.

A top two finish there would see them into a 10-team World Cup Qualifier.
