GUERNSEY producers have been pitching to see their produce on the shelves of a major UK supermarket.

Thirty-seven local suppliers met buyers from Waitrose at St Pierre Park Hotel.

The company is due to take over the Checkers superstore at Admiral Park and Safeway in the Rohais from early next year,

Manager of local and regional sourcing Graham Cassie said it gave the chain the opportunity to make initial contact with islanders who wanted to present their produce and show what they did.

‘We are looking for like-minded people to work together with.’
