NINETEEN island juniors between the ages of eight and 18 are off to Winchester this weekend to compete in the Hampshire Junior County Closed squash tournament.
An annual event to determine the county junior teams, this is one of Guernsey’s largest travelling squads and for some the first time they will have competed off island.
Jack Turvey, only nine years old, is one of the top prospects having recently been selected for a prestigious England Squash training weekend – only two other players in the country are invited within their age group – as well as placing second at last weekend’s South Regional Closed Championships.
This weekend at number two seed he will be seeking for his first county U11 title.
