Unwantables get off to flying start

THE talk has finished and the Men’s Division One hockey season is now under way.
Last weekend’s two opening matches saw Unwantables beat Collins Stewart Clubhouse Casuals 5-3 to go top of the table as Investec Colombians and Legis Independents could only draw 1-1 in an engrossing and fiercely contested encounter.
Defending champions Colombians opened up against an Indies side containing three players – Will Bisson, Matt Elston and Rupert Isles – who last year helped them to the title.
Indies struck first during the second half as they worked the ball through to Isles, who was unmarked on the right hand side and calmly finished into the left hand side of the goal past the onrushing Jake Le Marchant.
