Active or passive management ‘is not an either/or question’

THERE is room for both active and passive strategies in fund management, according to the head of the Guernsey branch of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
Members attended a seminar at the OGH for a debate on the merits of different management strategies and three industry experts gave presentations.
‘I think the conclusions are that this is not an either/or sort of question, clearly there is a role for both,’ said president of CISI Guernsey branch Justin Oliver.
David McGillveray of M&G spoke about whether active management should always have a role to play in fund management.
