A CHEMICAL tanker which collided with another vessel off the coast of Brittany is being towed into port without losing a drop of its cargo.
The YM Uranus collided with another tanker 150 miles from Guernsey, off the French coast at Brest, just after 4am yesterday.
All 13 crew members were airlifted to safety but there were fears the vessel’s 6,000-tonne cargo of heavy pygas gasoline would leak into the sea.
An anti-pollution response team was dispatched from Southampton.
But yesterday afternoon French officials were able to breathe a sigh of relief when a salvage team boarded the tanker and a tug began to tow it to Brest.
