Men’s triples sweat on last round results

GUERNSEY’S hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the men’s triples and earning a chance to challenge for a Commonwealth Games medal were hanging in the balance last night.

While Sarnian medal hopes had faded in the men’s and women’s pairs, Garry Collins, Dan de la Mare and Gary Pitschou, who are lying fourth in the group league table, were pinning their hopes on beating a Norfolk Island trio in the men’s triples today.

This would give them a chance of finishing in the top three in their group, but even then they would have to depend on Northern Ireland, who are in third place, slipping up badly against league leaders England.
