Late-night closure of Pollet is a good thing – club owner

Monday 11th October 2010, 2:29PM BST.

Adam BurroughsA NIGHTCLUB owner wants the trial late-night closure of the Lower Pollet made permanent.

For the past four weeks, police have shut the road between 11pm and 3am on Fridays and Saturdays in a bid to make the area safer.

Restaurants have complained about the system, claiming it has encouraged anti-social behaviour, but Fusion owner Adam Burroughs  (pictured) said the trial, which ended on Saturday, had been a success.

‘It has all gone really well and all the people I have spoken to have said what a brilliant idea it is,’ he said. ‘There hasn’t been too many people gathering in the road and the most anti-social behaviour that I have seen is a driver complaining that he could not get through.’

As part of the temporary measures, the entrance to Fusion was moved from Le Truchot to the Lower Pollet.

Was it also good idea that the owner of the Petit Bistro got spat at as a result of this experiment? No! Nightclubs should be closed down if their yobbish clientele behave worse than farmyard animals.
