Sarnians off to the worst start

Kylie RobilliardKYLIE ROBILLIARD produced an outstanding display on and off the track but cruelly missed out on a place in the women’s 100m hurdles final by just one place and 0.12 of a second in the Nehru Stadium yesterday.

The 22-year-old (pictured) produced her best hurdling display for some time to post a season’s best 13.94sec. for fourth place in the second semi-final.

Had she matched her lifetime best of 13.68, achieved two years ago, a place in the final would have been hers, but with two fastest losers spots available she was third fastest of the non-automatic qualifiers and her first Commonwealth Games action was over.

Moments afterwards she was conducting herself confidently and eloquently in a post-race interview with the BBC’s trackside interviewer, Phil Jones, which went out live on the BBC.
