A LOCAL man is preparing to travel to the South Pole and break his own world record – and you could join him.

Jason De Carteret, 44, works for a local security firm. He set the record for the fastest overland journey from landfall in Antarctica to the pole of two days, 21 hours and 21 minutes in 2005.

‘Anyone who does challenges is always trying to get better,’ he said.

There are three spaces on the polar expedition. Two are filled. The third person will be chosen from entrants from all over the world. Anyone over 18 can enter.
