Quartet overcome adversity

PATCHED up after months of injury worries, Guernsey’s first track and field relay squad left the Jawaharial Nehru Stadium last night all smiles.
Not only had they actually got to the start line, but they had beaten two rival nations and come close to qualifying for the final.
‘The boys are very pleased given the numerous problems that they have had in the lead up to the Games,’ said team manager Alan Rowe.
With Dale Garland on the lead off leg and Tom Druce second up, the Guernsey quartet were fourth and had been challenging England for much of Druce’s second leg.
