SAM COCHRANE is on the brink of joining North.

The Bels and island captain handed in a transfer request to leave the champions yesterday evening and he explained the reasons for his decision to leave his only senior club.

‘I haven’t enjoyed myself for two of the last five years even while I have been winning things,’ he said.

‘To be honest, I have spoken to other coaches during three of the last four summers looking at different possibilities and moving clubs.’

I thought Rob Batiste’s article in the press was total tripe. He along with the GFA seem to forget football is primarily to be enjoyed. If someone is unhappy at a club but would be happier playing somewhere surely they have the right to leave. As usual Mr Batiste, takes his opinion that the majority disagree with and tries to make it gospel!

I totally agree! These players are amateur, not getting payed and play the sport for a HOBBY. If they want to move teams because they are unhappy then why not? Why should they suffer to please other people! Rob Batiste is usually slating Bels in his write ups and now all of a sudden his deepest sympathies lie with them? I truely wander what the report would have said (or whether it would even have been written) had any of these players moved to Tics???
