NO HARD feelings.
That was the message coming out of Bels as they start life without inspirational club and island captain Sam Cochrane (pictured) following news of his departure to North.
The 24-year-old has been a cornerstone of the most successful Bels team in history, playing alongside and later replacing Leighton Chainey as captain.
But he has decided to move on to attempt to regain the hunger he feels he has lost and which is needed to maintain his performance levels.

What a shame Sam didn’t take up the opportunity of joining Rovers and what seems to be a revolution under Gallienne. There would have been a true challenge and exciting time for Rovers, PS i am a Sylvan so this comment comes from no favoritism.

I’ve heard that Craig Young, Dave Rihoy & Simon Marley are all going to North. Has anyone else heard these rumours?
What has happened to Bels, seems like they are having the same problems as North had last year! Anyone heard anything?

What a great signing for North and what a huge loss for Bels!
Firstly, good on Sam for going about things the way he did, and given recent moves in island football it is refreshing to see someone demonstrate how this process should be handled. What a credit he is to himself and to Guernsey football in general!
Secondly, what a shame for Bels, and in particular, Leighton Chainey who has worked hard to try and keep hold of his players and build on last years (and indeed the last few years) success. Leighton is a good guy and this will be a big blow to him I’m sure.
Stevie, in the case of the players you mentioned, not heard anything about these players but suspect they are just rumours. Craig Young I wouldn’t be surprised back at North. I’m not sure he was entirely convinved about his move in the first place and his reasons for leaving now seem to be irrelavent. That said, I don’t see it happening any time soon. With Marley, I don’t see any connection to North really. He’s been at Bels a while now so can’t see why he’d jump ship. In Rihoy’s case, I expect his focus is purely on getting back to fitness and making sure he is right for next season.
In any case, if the players do leave, then I hope they go about it in a way similar to Sam. If not, then good luck to them for the rest of the season. It could be a tough one!

Cochrane is out of order and so was Bradford. Both of them promised Leighton Chainey their help in his first season and Cochrane had so much power at Bels that he basically appointed Chainey. To leave after 3 months is letting everyone down especially Chainey. Ollie Smith only signed at Bels a couple of weeks ago because Cochrane phoned him and told him to sign. What must Chainey and Smith be thinking? NO HARD feelings – total rubbish, lots of let down feelings. Cochrane ran the show at Bels and some players feel that he had too much power. Besides the game that Ross Allen ran rings around him he hasnt put a Bels shirt on this season. It seems that most of the Bels players who went to Croatia have come back wanting to leave the club, is this just a coincidence? Unsettling times for Bels and I suggest this could be the shape of things to come for all clubs come Guernsey FC
