A less than magic roundabout yesterday. (1039227)
DRIVERS’ patience was tested yesterday as a roundabout lane closure, bus breakdown, and a gas leak added to the list of problems on St Peter Port roads.
Traffic wardens had to filter traffic between College Street and St Julian’s Avenue after an Island Coachways coach broke down near St James at 2.15pm.
Managing director Hannah Beacom said two vehicles were dispatched as quickly as possible to transfer passengers while a duty mechanic coordinated the recovery of the private hire vehicle.
‘I would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time and would like to thank the traffic wardens who directed the traffic to reduce the impact of congestion in this area,’ she said.
A gas leak caused the emergency closure of Brock Road and drivers struggled to exit from North Beach car park due to a lane closure at the roundabout so a fibreoptic link could be fitted.
