APPLEBY 8s remain the only unbeaten side in Grant Thornton Indoor Cricket Division One after pipping Vipers in a real nailbiter at the ICG Centre.

Vipers fielded superbly in restricting Appleby to just 11 runs from the first three partnerships.

But Applebys core fourth partnership of David Hooper and Lee Savident added a vital 39 runs to give them 50 to defend.

Mathew Hamilton and Ben McVey got the Vipers off to a tremendous start with the openers making 24 runs, but the venom dried up and the Vipers added only eight more runs in total eventually losing by 18 thanks to some fine catching and nine run outs.
