FILM-MAKERS from across Europe flocked to the island to collect their awards at what might be the last Guernsey Lily International Film Festival.
The world-renowned amateur event is in its 19th year and aspiring film-makers from the likes of Germany, France, Poland and England entered.
Yet issues with sponsorship and funding have led organisers Peter and Mary Rouillard to decide that this year’s will be their last.
‘It has grown so much in size and quality,’ said Mr Rouillard. ‘When I thought of the idea for the festival with my brother Richard and Joan Ozanne in 1991, we never imagined it would get to this. It has been great. However, some sponsors have dropped out and it gets more expensive each year.’
Overall winner James Webber said it would be a shame to lose the festival.
