THE stubborn Guernsey Donkeys overcame Sheffield’s Men of Steel on Saturday at the Gremlin Club – just.

The visitors may have cruised to an 11-5 victory in Friday evening’s friendly snooker match at the North Legion, but when the Challenge Cup was on the line the following day, the hosts fought hard for every frame and came up with the spoils.

‘Initially, we just wanted it to be a tighter match than last night and to make more of a game of it today,’ was Guernsey captain Adam Shorto’s honest assessment after he had been presented with the silverware.

Well, his side did just that against high quality opposition.
