PAUL MAUGER is taking after his father when it comes to pigeon racing and hopes his son will continue the family tradition.

Paul, inspired to take up the sport by his father Richard, recently claimed first place in the Fougeres Young Bird National, the last race of the 2010 season for the British Barcelona Club. He won section H, which was enough to claim the overall title.

With so many different distances for the pigeons to travel, the results are based on velocity, i.e. average speed, and Paul’s winning blue chequer Gaby Vandenbeele pigeon finished with a velocity of 1,595.574 yards per minute.

In addition, the time of his winning pigeon was good enough to win the 2010 Gold Ring Scheme.
