Multiple Paralympics medallist now inspires others

HE had his leg amputated as a teenager and then went on to win 12 medals – four of them gold – for swimming in five Paralympics.
Yesterday he was in Guernsey in his capacity as a motivational business speaker and next year Marc Woods will be making his way to the South Pole.
‘I was a lazy county swimmer,’ said Mr Woods (pictured). ‘I put in no effort. Then I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma [bone cancer].’
This made him reassess his life and just a day after having his stitches out he was swimming again with his father as trainer.
‘It so happens that I was swimming quicker with one leg than I ever did with two.’
