A MAN was left beaten and traumatised by two teenagers.

Terrence Eborall, 33, was chased and attacked as he made his way home after a night out in the early hours of 7 February. He was left with both eyes swollen, a broken rib and minor bruising to his kidneys.

James Gauvain, 19, and an 18-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted the attack, which Judge Russell Finch described as ‘alarming’ and ‘shocking’.

Sentencing Gauvain to three years and eight months in youth detention and the 18-year-old to four years, Judge Finch said it was a violent and unprovoked attack.

I would like to know what “legal” reason there is for an 18 year old to have their identity protected after committing a crime of this type? I can’t think of any reason why a person of “adult” age would need to remain anonymous after doing this.

He was 17 at the time of the offence and when he first appeared in court.

The law prohibits the media naming offenders who were juveniles at the time of their first court appearance in a case.

In reply to ukdonkee my son has been named and i dont mind you knowing my name. My son is disgusted at his behaviour and has asked to apologise to Mr Eborall in person. Not all the facts of the case have been reported in the Guernsey Press. Like I have said to people on face book I have copy of the commital papers in my possession so if people would like to check these out so that they have all the facts before they comment further perhaps they would like to contact me.

Sad to see events like this happening in Guernsey where most of us take some pride in the fact that this is still a safe place to walk the streets.

Lets keep it that way – lock them up and throw away the key.

Personally i think this is absolutly disgusting! HE is disgusted with his behaviour? Yeah right, well why do it in the first place? It is getting to the point now in Guernsey where i dont even want to go on a night out in town as i have witnessed to many acts of these violent crimes, with some of my friends being punched in the face for looking at someone the wrong way, come on is that really a reason to beat someone up! Incidents like these need to be stopped and certain people need to keep there anger under control! Wishing Mr Eborall a speedy recovery!
