0686493THE method by which Guernsey selects its Commonwealth Games team can be improved, accepts Peter Sirett, chairman of the Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association.

Back from the heat of Delhi where he made five medal presentations, Sirett (pictured) admitted that the island has not got a perfect approach to selecting a team – and might never have.

‘I don’t think it will ever be perfectly right, but we can improve it,’ he said. ‘One thing we could do is make the deadlines [for selection] later.

‘We could probably pull the deadlines back.’
