Demore was poles apart in Poznan

GAGE DEMORE chalked up another impressive win, but otherwise Guernsey’s boxers fell to a heavy defeat in Poland against tough opposition and some hometown judging.

Demore was the only Sarnian winner.

For the nine Sarnians who fought in Poznan, it was their first exposure to European competition and coach Graham Guilbert believes that there were big differences to normal for them.

‘I think that UK boxers are more skilful than the ones we faced in Poland,’ he said. ‘But the European lads are much more physical, even the two girls who boxed.’
