New ray record

Gary Crane with potential record marbled electric ray. (1041451)
VISITING angler Gary Crane has smashed the Bailiwick and British boat-caught record for marbled electric ray.
He was out with Richard Seager on Out the Blue, over a mark east of Sark. He decided to leger a small whole black bream for bait.
It proved to be a wise decision as his slightly unusual offering soon tempted the 10-14-11 specimen.
It easily beats the existing 6-13-12 record, which was caught by Marcus Odoli off Platte Saline in Alderney in September 2009.
The current British record is a 10-6-8 specimen caught in the Solent in 2000.
