Wolfgang is back from Biberach

ALTHOUGH it may not be immediately obvious, Wolfgang Mack’s connection with the Intertrust Guernsey International Chess Festival is stronger than many of his peers.
The 42-year-old is from Biberach, a small town in southern Germany synonymous with Guernsey, because it is where many islanders were sent during the Second World War and the island’s subsequent Occupation.
However, Mack (pictured), who is playing in the tournament at the Peninsula Hotel for the second time, said it is both the island and the event that made him come back.
‘I enjoy it very much here, it is a really nice island,’ he said.
