THERE will be an Aussie twang to the Guernsey contingent’s banter at next week’s Winmau World Masters in Hull and it will be from within their own ranks.

Kate Gifford, a full Australian international, will be one of a handful of Sarnian darts representatives at the prestigious event which is being televised on the BBC.

Gifford, 26, arrived in the island in February and won the women’s qualifying tournament to book her place at the Winmau and a second round clash against England’s Jackie Crew, after receiving a bye in the first.

Victory over Drew would land Gifford, who has played four times for her country, including clashes against New Zealand and South Africa, a plumb third-round tie against the world champion Trina Gulliver, also from England.
