‘Work hard and listen’ is scout’s motto

THE island’s best young footballers have been scouted by a talent-spotter for Bristol City.
The GFA/Bristol City Centre of Excellence this week started its third season, the first with the backing of the Bristol club.
Trevor Challis (pictured), head of recruitment at the Bristol City Academy, visited the opening night of the centre, which featured the best 10, 11 and 12-year-olds in the island.
He said that he was impressed by the Guernsey set-up and the quality of the young players.
‘The most important thing for a club like Bristol City, who do have limited resources, is to get players coming through the system and hopefully play in the first team,’ he said.
