End of Kinloss and 201 link will be felt by CCF

THE loss of RAF Kinloss will be a body blow for Guernsey and the base’s wider Scottish community, according to the man in charge of Elizabeth College’s Combined Cadet Force.
Lt-Col. Brian Aplin (pictured) has led a team of cadets and staff at the RAF base in Scotland during February half-term for many years and said he was still planning next year’s trip.
‘I am conscious it could be the last visit and because of that we want to plan it and make a proper occasion of it,’ he said.
He said while the base would still be there – it is likely to become barracks -the big difference would be the absence of the MR4 Nimrod, which Lt-Col Aplin was hoping cadets would have the opportunity to see.
