‘Pensions can’t be continued’

GUERNSEY’S chief minister has cast doubts on the future of the civil service final salary pension scheme.
Speaking on the BBC phone-in yesterday, Lyndon Trott (pictured) denied that they were gold-plated but conceded that some were very generous.
‘Is the public sector pension scheme sustainable in the long term? I would say almost certainly no, but the issue falls under the Public Sector Remuneration Committee,’ he said.
‘They carry out reviews and that process will start shortly.’
