£3m. Post cuts the right move, says Treasury chief

GUERNSEY POST’S plan to cut £3m. from its budget for next year has received backing from Treasury and Resources.
Yesterday minister Charles Parkinson – who represents the company’s sole shareholder, the States – said he was behind efforts to compensate for the volume decline in tradition mail.
But restricting spending will come at a price and Guernsey Post’s chief executive Boley Smillie has warned that job cuts will be inevitable.
Deputy Parkinson (pictured) said the company was responding well to difficult times.
