Friday 29th October 2010, 2:29PM BST.
A CHEF and a waitress from a local Chinese restaurant were given community service yesterday for harbouring an illegal immigrant.
Helen Sek, 41, and Andy Wong, 39, admitted the offence in the Magistrate’s Court.
Sek, of 7, Contree Mansell, St Peter Port, pleaded guilty to further charges of allowing the immigrant to live in local market accommodation without a housing licence and of allowing a chef to work without a Right to Work document.
She was fined £1,000 for the latter offence.
Each defendant was given 60 hours’ community service as a direct alternative to six weeks in prison.
