Lifeboat back with new props

THE St Peter Port lifeboat’s new five-bladed propellers will give a smoother ride to its crew and those they rescue.

The Spirit of Guernsey returned to local waters this week after just over a month of refurbishment work.

Lifeboat operations manager and harbour master Captain Peter Gill said the Severn class lifeboat underwent minor repairs to her hull and port-side engine fuel injectors and electrical improvements.

But the big change was fitting two five-bladed propellers to replace the four-bladed ones.
