A 74-YEAR-OLD woman’s neck was broken when her car was hit by a man who was said to have been driving at more than 90mph shortly before the crash.

The woman, whose condition was described in the Magistrate’s Court as very poorly, has been in hospital since the accident, which happened near the Houmet Tavern on the evening of 15 September.

Martin Rancans, 22, of 2, Les Monmains Cottages, Les Monmains, Vale, admitted a charge of dangerous driving.

Advocate Sarah Morgan asked for sentencing to be adjourned for two months, because her client would be engaging the services of an independent road traffic accident investigator.
