GUERNSEY’S Todd Priaulx and Ireland’s Ashley Rainey looked set to secure a place in the final of the World Indoor Bowls Council under- 25 mixed pairs championship in Nottingham yesterday.

After losing the first set to Scotland’s Commonwealth Games star Michelle Cooper and Welsh junior champion Owain Dando, they took control in the second set and went into the tiebreak with the momentum behind them.

But their opponents suddenly pulled their game together and played some pressure bowls to win consecutive ends and booked their place in the final with an 8-3, 1-8, 2-0 scorecard.

‘I have enjoyed the whole tournament, but I think I played my best bowls in the mixed pairs semi-finals,” said the Sarnian.
