COLOMBIANS have begun their defence of the Division One hockey Cup with a 4-3 win against rivals Independents.
This year’s cup competition is a single round-robin of matches followed by a play-off final between the top two sides.
Elizabeth College’s full participation in the league programme means they aren’t competing in the cup during the 2010/11 season where the first round of matches fell on a weekend where Guernsey were competing in the HA Trophy (and therefore excluded representative players) and follows one full set of league fixtures.
Colombians and Indies went into their cup match level on points at the top of the league table having drawn on the opening day of the season and won both their other games.
