The guernsey becomes a fashion must-have

GUERNSEY’S favourite jumper is set to go global after being adopted by iconic fashion label Fred Perry.
When the company – the brand of choice for celebrities, fashion followers, music lovers and sports fans – decided it wanted to include the guernsey in its latest collection, it was determined not to settle for second-best.
It came direct to the island’s specialist producer at Rue des Marais in the Vale.
Arthur Eldridge, co-owner of Guernsey Woollens Ltd, said the fame of the island’s prized pullover, long favoured by local fishermen, was growing.
‘Guernseys had started to get fashionable and, rather than doing a lookalike version, they wanted to do the real thing.’

I’ve had a couple of Guernseys now for about twenty five years
They’re certainly built to last but the shopkeeper never warned me that they would shrink so much over time

I’m a regular wearer. And with the Forest Parish /family pattern; additional half diamonds and full diamonds to signify waves and anchor chains apparently.
I asked my grandpa what the pattern meant one and he said
“When us fishermen got washed up at the bottom of the cliffs, the Constable knew which cemetery to take the body.”
