Author Terry is Guernsey’s first after-dinner speaker of the year

AUTHOR Terry White has been crowned the island’s best after-dinner speaker.
The After-Dinner Speaker of the Year Award, the first of its kind in Guernsey, took place last week at the OGH Hotel.
The event saw an individual from each of the 10 tables on the night speak for five minutes on a subject of their choice in between courses through the evening, but with the identity of exactly who was speaking kept secret until the last moment.
Yorkshireman Mr White, who has lived in the island for 20 years, said being named the winner after a secret ballot had come as a complete surprise.
