Staff totals correct, but don’t tell the whole story – HSSD

Princess Elizabeth Hospital HEALTH and Social Services does not have 87 staff solely dedicated to HR or 36 workers in finance, according to the department.

The figures were highlighted during last month’s States debate after appearing in the September Billet d’Etat.

But HSSD has moved to clarify the totals by assuring that the figures seem bigger than the reality because a number of different employees have been grouped together under the umbrellas of HR and finance.

A spokesman said that use of the figures had been fair, but the department was concerned they gave an incorrect impression to islanders that there were nearly 90 individuals working on recruitment, pay and conditions.
