A COUPLE who were denied a grant to install a bath in their States house, even though one of them cannot use the shower, have been given the money to complete the work by an anonymous donor.
Charles Pengelley, 74, fought for two years to get the Social Security Department to fund the work but was turned down twice.
He wants the bath for the benefit of his wife Maureen, 73, who has Alzheimer’s. She is frightened of the water going over her head and refuses to use the shower.
But a man came forward to fund the work in their bathroom after seeing their story in the Guernsey Press.
