KRISTINA NEVES continues to set new standards.

The Guernsey Swimming Club starlet has just returned from the South East Winter Short Course Championships held in Portsmouth, where she broke several records.

This competition is run in two age groups, 16 and under and 17 and over, and Neves came away with four personal bests.

In the 800m freestyle her time of 8-45.80 was an improvement by nearly 23 seconds. This is also a new island record by just over 20 seconds, the previous mark having stood since 1994 when Sam Herridge clocked 9-06.36.

In the 1,500m freestyle, her time of 16-48.51, which was nearly 30 seconds off her previous best, ranked her No. 1 in the whole of Britain for the last 12 months.

Some of Neves’ times were good enough for three Guernsey records, four South East juniors, and an open record.

Overall, she made the podium 12 times, winning two open events and five juniors.South East Winter Short Course Championships:
